The winners of Globe Award 2011 were announced in Stockholm on May 11.

STOCKHOLM, May 4, 2011 − Anthony Schoofs from Ireland, Southwest Windpower Inc from USA, Park Choon-Hee, Mayor of Songpa in South Korea and Vancity, Vancouver City Saving Credit Union, from Canada were in Stockholm on May 11 to receive this year’s Globe Sustainability Award in research, innovation, city and reporting categories respectively.
Globe Award is presented for the fifth consecutive year. The aim is to discover and encourage researchers, innovators, cities and companies outstanding in sustainable development. Globe Award’s mission is to highlight and acknowledge particular cases and initiatives within the sustainability area.
The decision, who obtained this year's award, depended on four objective jury groups. Each of them consists of highly experienced and internationally recognized experts. The award was given in the following distinct categories:
Cities, companies, corporations, organizations, academia and individuals from all over the world who have a sustainability project or research can apply to be nominated for one of the categories of Globe Award. Information and application forms can be downloaded from this site from October 1st 2010 to February 4th 2011.
The Globe Award nominees were made public on March 4th, 2011. Globe Award laureates were later announced on Mars 28th, 2011.
